The Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) is coming up for the 2010 school year. 3rd graders will be the first to start testing Reading in February. Then in the first 2 weeks of March, 3rd grade will have Math and Writing, 4th grade will take Reading, Writing, and Math, and 5th grade will take Reading, Writing, Math, and Science. The full schedule will be available soon.

Grace Best has a peer mediation program for 4th and 5th grade. We have 10 peer mediators in each grade that were trained on mediation and listening skills. The mediators serve during their lunch recess time with the goal of helping their peers solve conflicts. They are great role models and leaders at Grace Best.

The counseling department received a grant from Tri-Lakes Women's Club to purchase curriculum for grades K - 2nd. The curriculum is called Second Step and I use it during my classroom guidance time. The curriculum focuses on identifying feelings, problem solving, and managing emotions. I am so thankful to TLWC for their generous donation.
