Counseling groups will be running throughout the school year. Counseling groups give children the opportunity to meet with other students that are experiencing similar concerns. I have asked teachers for referrals of students but would also like parent input. Group topics that I offer are: Friendship skills, Social skills, Deployment support, Changing families support for children experiencing divorce/separation. The groups typically meet once a week for 6-8 weeks for 30 minutes. Times are scheduled with teachers that are least disruptive to the students schedule. Bear Creek PTO generously donated several books to the counseling department. The books are available for parent check-out. Topics include: bullying, lying, fears, separation anxiety, safety, teasing, gossiping, diversity, and more. I also have CD's and books on Love and Logic.
